Obituary

Alberto Morales Santiago was born to the late Felipe Morales and Isabel Santiago in Santurce, Puerto Rico, on September 6 th , 1950. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Noelia; his children, Vanessa and Anthony; his grandchildren, Devin, Jaelyn, Bryson and Avery; and his great-granddaughter Laia. He also leaves behind his sister, Judy.

By the time he was school aged, Albert, as he was affectionally known, moved to Tompkins Avenue in Brooklyn along with his parents and two siblings, Luis Vazquez and Judy Morales. During this time, he loved playing sports, especially basketball and handball. He also joined Cub Scouts and was a parishioner of Monserrate Church.  His mother was a seamstress, and his father was a carpenter and musician. They instilled the love of family and faith always.

Just after starting high school in 1966, his parents decided to move the family back to Puerto Rico.  He graduated High School in Puerto Rico and decided to move back to Brooklyn.  It was then that he met the love of his life, Noelia, in 1969.  They fell in love and married on September 5 th , 1970.  Their daughter Vanessa was born in August 1972 and their son Alberto "Anthony" Jr was born in January of 1977.  They raised their children in Rosedale, Queens after purchasing their first home.

Albert had a great love for music, all types of music.  But Salsa was at the top of his list.  He learned to play percussion instruments, sing, and dance.  It was truly a family affair.  He created unforgettable memories with his entire family.  There were countless jam sessions with cousins accompanied by singing and dancing.

Albert worked many careers and was always learning and growing professionally. Honestly, he was a 'Jack of all trades'.  From being a paralegal, to accounting, to street vendor of mainstream pop music paraphernalia. His last place of employment was Comcast here in South Florida. He was the best, and funniest, customer service representative you could ask for. He was loved by all.

Albert had a relationship with God, he accepted him as his Lord and Savior. He shared this love of God with his family. Most recently, when living in South Florida, he attended Church by the Glades. There he joined ministries and dedicated his heart to those in need. He would go out of his way to help anyone. There was no doubt that he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

However, his biggest love was his family.  Noelia, Vanessa, and Anthony – there wasn't anything that Albert wouldn't do for them. Every ounce of his being was to be there for them. They helped him overcome many obstacles and it was his mission to ensure that they would be taken care of, by him, for the rest of his life.  But then he was blessed again with his grandchildren. Oh man, those who knew him, know. They were the light of his eyes. And just when he thought he was complete, his eldest grandson Devin, blessed him with Laia, his great-granddaughter. And Darrel, his son in law, he loved very much as his own and was thankful to him for giving him three grandchildren.

In closing, his passion for Salsa and oldies, his love of basketball and LeBron, the Yankees and Miami Heat – made him an amazing fan. Ultimately, his greatest accomplishment was being a father and husband. He was a dedicated, hardworking man who loved his family unconditionally.

May you rest in eternal peace, Albert.
