Obituary

Alicia D. Yunis earned her angel wings on June 28, 2023 after 93 beautiful years on Earth. She was surrounded by family when she peacefully took her last breath.

Born in Medellin, Colombia on September 24, 1929 to Alfredo and Ana Clara Perez, she later moved to Barranquilla where she met and married the love of her life, Antonio. In 1983, Alicia made the journey to the United States to be close to her daughter, Lili. While Alicia was always a special "Abui" to all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she developed a special bond with two of her grandchildren, Tony and Natasha, as she helped raised them in Florida.

When she was younger, Alicia loved to sew. As she matured, she found new passions in crochet and gardening roses and crotons. Alicia was always very easygoing, willing to go along with any plans. She had a heart of gold, sharing everything she had and did so with unconditional love. Alicia was sweet and loving to everyone and made an effort to communicate even if there was a language barrier. One of the fondest memories the Yunis family will keep is how Alicia ALWAYS had a small radio with her. She never hesitated to play the radio and the television at the same time- often while talking on the phone.

Alicia was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio.

Survived by her children, Ricardo (Nicole) Yunis, Hernan Yunis, Lili (Earl) Gottfried, and Claudia (Samuel) Rothman; grandchildren, Adriana, Carolina, Richie, Tony, Vanessa, Natasha, Hernan Andres, Valerie, and Natalie; and her great grandchildren, Mason, Landon, Grace, Elijah, Penelope, Naomi, Salma, Belen, Sofia, and Martin.
