Anthony “Bawi”
Andrew Lestrade
Jan 17, 1954 — Nov 12, 2021
Anthony Andrew Lestrade, known to all as Bawi, transitioned to be with the Lord on November 12, 2021. Bawi was born in Portsmouth, Dominica, on January 17, 1954, to Reynold and Enaria Lestrade. Bawi is survived by his loving wife Laura, stepdaughters Michelle and Lauren (Michael), granddaughter Sarina, sister Christine, and brothers Robert, Russell (Corola) and Desmond. As well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren of his siblings.
Bawi was an amazing man who loved and cherished his family to an extent that words cannot express. His character was over the top with caring, kindness, dependability, and always humor. All of this poured into the lives of his family, friends, co-workers at Abundant Life Christian Centre and the worship team at Abundant Life Church. He loved the Lord so much that he dedicated his life to playing bass with the Worship Team for almost twenty years, utilizing the gift God gave him to give Him honor and glory. When he made that commitment, it was for life, as he played outside the church for many years. It was time to use his gift for the God who gave that gift to him.
Bawi enjoyed many things, such as cooking for his family, especially his "Boogieloos", his granddaughter Sarina. In addition, he loved fishing, which he did on a weekly basis unless he decided he was going to take his wife out for the evening. He loved being creative with wood and other natural materials which developed into an array of different styles and sizes of sail boats and whatever else that came into that creative mind on any given day. When it came to family, he was right there, front and center.
