Obituary

Carlos Mario Mendoza of Coral Springs, FL tragically passed away on Sunday, November 28th, after a 7 month battle with congestive heart failure at the age of 65.

Carlos was born in the Bronx, New York,  November 5th, 1956 to Mario & Carlota Mendoza (pre-deceased). He soon moved to Arecibo, Puerto Rico where he spent the rest of his childhood with his sisters, Aracelis and Mari. After graduating from the University of Puerto Rico, he married Maria Reyes, and the two of them moved to Florida the winter of 1980. That is where his two children, Mario and Carla, were born and raised. Carlos and Maria were together for 20 years of marriage and raised their children together for 31 years. He found another wonderful partner later in life, when he married Claribel Reyes in 2013.  Carlos' life was full of love because he himself was such a loving person.

Sports were his passion, to play and to watch, most of all swimming, basketball, and football. He lived for the competition. His friends called him the Night Owl when he was young as he would play basketball long after the sun had set. He loved the beach, whether he was in the ocean or on the sand, swimming or playing volleyball. Loved to talk to people and make them happy something he was able to do as a job at TopRX, a company full of wonderful people, where he worked for 15 years. Most of all he loved his family. He was a family-first person his entire life: a dutiful son, a protective older brother, a hardworking husband, and the best father his children could have ever asked for. His love extended beyond his family to friends, coworkers, clients, hospitality workers, to anyone who shared even a sentence with him.  Many would say, Carlos Mendoza was the type of person you aspire to be.

Carlos was predeceased by his parents and is survived by: a loving wife, Claribel, his siblings Aracelis, Mari, Manuel, & Jorge, and his children, Carla, Mario, Jillian, & Daniel who were blessed to have him as a father. He leaves behind step-sons, cousins, siblings-in-law, and other extended family who he loved so very much.

A Memorial Service will be held at Monarch Funeral Home, Saturday the 11th of December, at 10 am. This will be a celebration of life and the family wishes to maintain a positive atmosphere so light colored church attire is encouraged.
