Obituary

Charles Alvin Brideau, 46, of Margate, FL passed away on March 10, 2025. The elder of two sons to Alvin and Antoinette Brideau, he was born in North Tarrytown, New York on November 14, 1978. The Brideau's relocated to Coral Springs, FL in 1987 where Charles spent his formative years. He attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School before transferring to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where he graduated from in 1997. Charles' next adventure, college, landed him in Gainesville, FL at Santa Fe Community College.

By 2004, Charles had joined the United States Army in Fort Sill, OK for basic training. Bravely defending his country, Charles served one tour in Korea and two tours in Iraq, earning numerous medals and ribbons for his service before returning to civilian life. He always reflected on his time in the military with great pride.

With his training and skillset from the Army, Charles decided to follow his father's footsteps and become a law enforcement officer. After completion of police training, he was employed with West Palm Beach Police Department for nine years; spending the final two years of his career with Allied Universal Security.

Charles, or "Charlie" as was affectionately known by some, will forever be remembered and adored. His dashing good looks caught the eye of many, but it was his charisma and selfless, caring ways that truly set him apart. With a larger than life personality, he did not know a stranger and somehow found himself continually helping others, often doing small acts such as giving his lunch to a homeless person.

From a young age, Charlie found a passion in baseball. It was a sport he excelled in, playing for the high school and going on to play semi-pro. He was an avid Yankee fan! Charlie's greatest passion, however, was his daughter, Sophia. Watching her grow, learn, and blossom into a beautiful young lady was his crowning achievement.

The love, light and spirit that Charles brought into this world will be missed the most by his parents, Alvin and Antoinette; his daughter, Sophia and her mother, Jennifer; and his siblings, AJ (Daniela), Kimberly, Eugene, Jeffrey (Karen), and Dana. Also left to cherish his memory are his Godfather/Uncle, Charles (Christine) Alaimo; Godmother, Shirley Archibald; and nieces and nephews, Jessica, Nicholas, Kristen, Emily, Robert and Julianne; along with a host of extended family including numerous aunts and uncles.
