Obituary

Charlotte Ann DeHart went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 having just celebrated her 80 th birthday in Jan. Charlotte was born in Bakersfield, California in 1941. She moved with her family to Fresno in 1952 where she attended Roosevelt High School. She graduated in 1958. Charlotte was the oldest girl of 5 children born to John and Jessie Marquez of Bakersfield and Fresno, CA.

Charlotte was an adventurous traveler. After graduation she moved to San Francisco, CA for a short stay before heading to Fairbanks, Alaska in 1962.  While there, she met William "Bill" DeHart, an Airforce serviceman.  She left Fairbanks once again moving back to California however, she and Bill maintained a long distance relationship until their marriage in 1964.  Once married the couple began their Airforce journey together from Fairbanks, Alaska through many states which included Oklahoma, where their first daughter Kim was born in 1965. Another transfer took them back to Alaska, this time to Anchorage where their second daughter, Leslie was born and then their son Billy. In 1972 they transferred to Michigan where Charlotte pursued a career with Bechtel Corp. By 1976 they were transferred once again, this time to Washington State where they had a home built near Birch Bay. A few years later in 1979, Charlotte then took a transfer with her children to New Jersey where she continued with her career in project management.  In 1981 the DeHart family finally settled back in California where Charlotte worked for Chevron Corporation Bay Area and became a Mary Kay Consultant.  Her husband Bill retired from the Airforce after 20 years of service including the Vietnam War.  Charlotte and Bill relocated to Fresno, CA in 1998 when Charlotte retired from Chevron.  She wanted to be close to her elderly parents and her siblings.

Charlotte had many interests and accomplishments.  She loved fishing and camping with her family, she was in bowling leagues, she loved ice skating, and baseball games (Giants).  She loved being a Mary Kay consultant and achieved management status. She was also an award winning oil and water color artist. Charlotte and Bill were members of The Bridge Church in Fresno, CA.  Charlotte will always be remembered for her gracious smile, her positive attitude and her happy adventurous personality.  She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed by her family and friends.  She will forever be in our hearts.

Charlotte is survived by her eldest brother Richard Marquez Sr. and wife Sue, brother John Marquez and wife Rosie, sister Sylvia Marquez-Nutt. Her children, Leslie Escovedo and Billy DeHart along with grandchildren Briella DeHart and Trevor DeHart. Charlotte's other sister, Patricia Baquera preceded Charlotte in death in 2012 as well as her eldest daughter Kim DeHart in 1985 and her parents John and Jessie Marquez of Bakersfield and Fresno, CA.
