Daniel
Burke
Jun 8, 1957 — Jul 26, 2021
Daniel Burke, 64, of Margate, Florida passed away peacefully on July 26th, 2021 after a long, hard battle with renal cancer. Danny was born in Pittsburg, Kansas on June 8th, 1957 to the late Wallace and Betty Jean (Kennedy) Burke. He attended Pittsburg schools and became a heavy machine mechanic. He lived most of his 64 years in Pittsburg, Kansas where he worked for SEK-Cap, Berry Tractor, Alternative Fuels, and he just completed his 23rd year with the Kansas Department of Transportation.
He married the love of his life Jo Dee Wehmeyer in October of 1981 and together they raised their two daughters, Sheila and Shellie. His proudest achievement was being a father and becoming "Papa" to his two amazing granddaughters, Jayda and Destyni. He also enjoyed spoiling his two dogs and three granddogs.
He never met a stranger and made everyone feel like family. Dan is that guy who would give the shirt off his back and always willing to help anyone. Many of his evenings and weekends were spent helping family and friends with their cars or construction projects. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his loyal dogs Sammie and Saddie.
He is survived by his wife Jo Dee, daughters - Sheila Dorsey and husband Tyrone of Margate, and Shellie Montemurro and husband Bryan, of Lee's Summit, two granddaughters, his dogs Sammie and Saddie, three granddogs - Daisy, Zanna, and Ursula, a sister Reva Meadows and brother in law Dennis Prewitt of Frontenac, three brothers - Mickey Burke of Pittsburg, Jay Burke and wife Janet of Olathe, Willie Burke of Pittsburg, many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother Sam Burke.
A memorial service will be held at St. John Activity Center, Pittsburg, Kansas on Saturday, August 14th, 2021 at 10:00AM, followed by visitation until 12:00PM. Per Danny's wishes masks will be required and casual dress is preferred.
