Dawson Lake Metzger transitioned on the evening of September 12, 2022 at the age of 53. A returning resident of South Florida for the last 4 years, Dawson resided in Grand Junction, Colorado from 1992-2018 where he started his family. Dawson was born in Plantation, FL February 6, 1969. He is survived by his two sons, Bretton and Elam Metzger of Grand Junction, CO; mother, Alycea Metzger of Coconut Creek, FL; father, Frank Metzger, of Glen Carbon, IL; sisters, A. Kelly Szirovatka and Holly Metzger; brothers, Matthew Metzger, Orrin Metzger, and Joshua Metzger.

Dawson was an artistic and creative genius creating characters like Mr. VOO and Mr. Yahooty. Dawson had an innate ability to take the likeness of any creature and transform it into an animated, one-of-a-kind piece of art. Much of his artistic ability was inspired from his love of nature. His courage, comfort, and confidence of the outdoors was second to none. A born fisherman, Dawson loved spending countless hours fishing in the Everglades, Florida canals and beaches; and while in Colorado he enjoyed the mountains, rivers, and lakes.

Dawson was a funny, full spirited, loving soul always ready to help others however he could. Most importantly, Dawson cherished his children. He continues to be loved and missed by all who knew him.
