Obituary

Guestbook and Livestream instructions are below the obituary.

Delroy A. Oliver, a man of boundless creativity, quiet strength, and generous spirit, transitioned peacefully on April 16, 2026, in Coral Springs, FL, at the age of 89. He leaves behind a world made more beautiful by his presence — and a family whose lives were shaped by his love.

Born on August 25, 1936, in Kingston, Jamaica, W.I. to Peter Oliver and Sybil McFarlane, Delroy had a gift for seeing the world differently — not just as it was, but as it could be. As a young man, he served as a creative director in Kingston, helping bring Jamaica's very first Independence Day parade to life. He later brought that same spirit to Brooklyn, New York, where he built a distinguished career as an interior designer at Lerner Shops, Plymouth, and Sears, before becoming a beloved fixture in his community as a greeter at K&S, a local discount store. He was industrious and endlessly resourceful — the kind of man who, when faced with a problem, didn't just look for a solution, he found one.

Delroy had a deep love for music and dancing, and his house parties were legendary — filled with good people, great music, and laughter that lasted long into the night. You could always spot him by his trademark Mets cap, a proud and loyal fan through every season.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Hope Oliver; his children, Dean, Marie, and Maureen; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren, as well as a wide circle of extended family and cherished friends.

Delroy Oliver was one of a kind. He will be deeply missed, and forever remembered.
