Dorothy
Peters
Oct 18, 1928 — Mar 28, 2025
Dorothy Skilbeck Peters, or "Mom Peters," born on October 18, 1929 to Ruth and Gerald Skilbeck in Kenosha, WI, transitioned to heaven on March 28, 2025.
At age 14 she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and at age 19 she married Orlo D. Peters. Walking away from the wealthy lifestyle she was raised with, Dorothy and Orlo began a full-time ministry in church-planting throughout the states. They both later became staff members at Faith Farm Ministries in Fort Lauderdale, FL. After 15 years they retired and moved to Alabama to assist in ministry at Rescue Church.
Dorothy was a strong woman, devoted to God, to her husband, her children, ministry, and her community. Her love for the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her family was very evident. She had a saying, "She will not miss church anytime the doors are opened." She enjoyed having tea parties with her grandchildren and entertaining with the fancy china at family gatherings.
Dorothy is cherished by all who encountered her. She has left a beautiful legacy. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Reverand Orlo D. Peters. Survived by five children, sons, David, Thomas, Robert, and Jon Peters, and daughter, Kimberly Whitehead; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Her love touched the hearts and lives of many people.
Dorothy will be buried next to her husband in Perpetual Care Cemetery, Union Springs, AL.
