Ed was born in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania at Frick Community Hospital. Cramer, mother Opal (Barnes) Cramer, sister, Carol (Cramer) Helkowski, and niece, Robin Helkowski, sister-in-law, Rebecca (Novak) Pravlik.
Ed attended Hurst High School and Mt. Pleasant Area High School, where he graduated in 1966. He worked with his father and uncles while attending electronics school in Pittsburgh until he was drafted by the Army. He served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970, driving supply trucks to the front lines. Upon his return, he got married and worked for the Mt. Pleasant Township as an Environmental Officer before moving to Florida in 1981. He worked with various utility companies before founding South Florida Utilities, Inc. with his longtime partner for over 35 years, Mark Carpenter. He worked until February of 2024 when he was diagnosed with stomach cancer.
Eddie was a life-long Steelers and Penguins fan. He loved football and rarely missed a game, even when traveling. He loved to travel with his wife, especially over the last 15 years. They traveled all over the Western United States and abroad. They visited all the National Parks and enjoyed meeting people along the way. He loved cruises and took many through the Caribbean and Alaska over the years.
Ed's pride and joy were his daughter and grandson. He spent over 15 years taking his daughter on the boat every weekend possible, with his best friend, Edward (Checo) Pacheco. He loved Jimmy Buffett and raised his daughter to believe that was the only music allowed on the boat. He was the first immediate relative to hold his grandson, Nic, when he was born. Nic played a variety of sports as a child, and he never missed a single game. When Nic took up drumming at age 5, Ed went out and bought him his first kit. He went to every School of Rock event, Stoneman Douglas Marching Band event and competition, and every gig Nic had. He was extremely proud of Nic's talent and shared videos with everyone that would watch.
Ed loved the history channel and loved Ancient Aliens, especially when there would be an episode about the Kecksburg UFO, which he witnessed with his father in his hometown.
Ed was kind, overly generous, and would do anything for anyone to help others. He was quiet but extremely funny, which made people gravitate to him. He had a huge impact onthose that that knew him and he was the unspoken strength to his family in times of need, without question. He was the type of person that never wanted credit for anything he did and always put his family first, even in his last days. He leaves a deep hole that will never be filled and his legacy will live on in his daughter and grandson.
There are no words to describe the appreciation that his family has for his doctor (Bruno) at the VA, UM Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Trustbridge Hospice Care.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to UM Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center or Trustbridge Hospice Care in his name.
