With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Elizabeth "Liz" Mattix, who left us on May 15, 2026, at the age of 52.
Born on June 8, 1973, Elizabeth lived a life full of love, laughter, light, and unforgettable energy. She was bright, fun-loving, and the kind of person who could light up any room with her smile. She never wanted the party to end and always found a reason to laugh, dance, and enjoy life. No matter what life brought her, she continued to see the good in people — even when they gave her every reason not to. That was simply who she was: loving, hopeful, beautiful, and full of life.
Elizabeth was adventurous to her core. She was always looking for ways to push the envelope, chase excitement, and turn ordinary moments into stories worth telling. Whether it was exploring places she probably shouldn't have, chasing a spontaneous adventure, or encouraging the people around her to live a little louder and freer, she approached life fearlessly and with curiosity. She believed life was meant to be experienced fully, and she carried that spirit everywhere she went.
Elizabeth was known for her warm heart, bubbly spirit, and contagious laughter. She made people feel seen, welcomed, and loved everywhere she went. She carried herself with strength, humor, and compassion, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her love for art, music, reading, and theater reflected her vibrant soul and appreciation for beauty in all forms. She especially loved Bon Jovi, Guns N' Roses, Moulin Rouge, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and the book The Secret. True to her personality, her favorite things included black, sparkles, and anything that brought joy and self-expression.
Elizabeth was a devoted wife to James II Mattix, whom she married in 1999, sharing a love built on deep connection, loyalty, and admiration. She was endlessly proud of the love they shared and never missed an opportunity to talk about how deeply loved she was by her husband. In true Elizabeth fashion, she would jokingly argue with friends that nobody had ever been loved more than she was loved by James — and anyone who knew them could see just how special their bond truly was.
More than anything, Elizabeth loved her children fiercely and spoke about them with endless pride. Her son, James III Mattix, amazed her constantly with his intelligence, loving heart, and ability to teach himself almost anything he set his mind to — from chess to solving a Rubik's Cube and countless other talents he picked up so naturally. She admired his curiosity and brilliance deeply.
She was equally proud of her daughter, Alexandria Miller, whose thoughtful nature, level-headedness, and steady support meant the world to her. Elizabeth often leaned on Alexandria during difficult moments, and their bond was built on love, trust, and understanding. Being a mother was one of Elizabeth's greatest joys, and her children never doubted how deeply they were loved.
Elizabeth also held a special place in her heart for her son-in-law, Christopher Miller. She loved watching him fall in love with her daughter and spoke often about the happiness and security he brought into Alexandria's life. It meant so much to her to see the deep love they shared, and she was equally grateful that her husband, James, found not only a son-in-law in Christopher, but a true best friend.
Elizabeth was also incredibly excited to become a grandmother to baby Lillian Miller, even while insisting she was still far too young for the title. She spoke often about how excited she was for this next chapter of life, and her love for her growing family was already overflowing long before Lillian's arrival.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Entriken, and is survived by her mother, Denise Arnone, along with countless family members, friends, and loved ones who will continue to carry her memory forward.
Elizabeth's words, wisdom, and humor will live on through the people she loved. Among the many things her family will always remember are her sayings: "Don't do anything I wouldn't do," and "Always remember it's you two against the world, not each other."
Though her passing leaves an unimaginable void, Elizabeth's spirit and light will continue to shine through the lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
The family appreciates everyone's love, prayers, and support during this incredibly difficult time. As they process this loss, they kindly ask for privacy and space to grieve while awaiting and preparing funeral arrangements.
