Florence Marie
Mccullough
Sep 9, 1946 — Aug 25, 2024
Today, we gather to honor the life and legacy of Florence McCullough, a woman who embodied strength, resilience, and love in everything she did. Born on September 9th, 1946, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Florence was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Florence McCullough. She grew up in a bustling household as one of eleven siblings, where she learned early on the importance of family, perseverance, and making the best out of any situation.
Florence was a sister to Maureen, Barbara, Johnny, Rodney, Janet, Michael, Marilyn, Joseph, Joan, and John Thomas. Each of them shared in the joy, challenges, and love that came with being part of such a large and close-knit family. Their bond was unbreakable, a testament to the values their parents instilled in them.
As an adult, Florence became a mother to four children: Rene, Valerie, Nathaniel, and Victoria. To them, she was more than a mother—she was a guiding light, a pillar of strength, and a source of unwavering love. Florence taught her children the importance of standing up for themselves, of being resilient in the face of adversity, and of never backing down from life's challenges.
Florence's family grew over the years, and she became the proud grandmother of 17 grandchildren: Nathaniel, Nichelle, Charmagne, Carl, Ken, Chelsea, Dimitri, Diego, Jayden, Damani, Brooklyn, Dwayne, Isaiah, Merrick, Destine, Ethan, and Anastasia. She also had the joy of seeing her family expand even further with 11 great-grandchildren in South Florida. Florence was also blessed with a host of nieces and nephews in New York, New Jersey, and Florida, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Florence spent many of her years working in administrative roles and with the school board, where she was known not just for her efficiency and dedication, but also for her famous phrase, "Those who know, know." It was a saying that encapsulated her no-nonsense attitude, her wisdom, and the deep understanding she had of life.
She was a fighter, a woman who took no nonsense from anyone. Florence possessed a myriad of characteristics that were undeniable she was resilient, loving, caring, empathetic, and sympathetic. She was devotional and brave, always mindful and bold, resourceful, and utterly dedicated to her family and those she loved.
Florence had an incredible ability to make something out of nothing. She always found a way, no matter the obstacles in her path. She was tough, but it was a toughness that came from a place of deep love and care. Florence meant well in all that she did, even when she was being firm. Her love was a fierce and protective one, ensuring that those she cared about were always safe and supported.
Her transition from this world at 3:50 am on August 25th, 2024, marks the end of a remarkable journey. Florence leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, and resilience. She touched the lives of so many, especially her 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, who will continue to carry her spirit forward in all they do.
Florence McCullough will be remembered as a woman of courage, determination, and immense love. Today, we celebrate her life, the memories she created, and the lasting impact she had on all of us. Though she has left this world, her spirit remains with us, guiding us, and reminding us to live with the same resilience, love, and determination that she did.
Rest in peace, Florence. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
