Fortilie Almoner Auguste, affectionately called "Fortune" by her late husband, was born on the 27th of November, 1924 in Quartier Morin, Haiti to the late Tertius Almoner and Judith Michaud.

On December 13, 2023 in Margate, FL, Fortilie's peaceful transition to God's glorious kingdom took place. Fortilie was the youngest of five children and attended elementary school in Quartier Morin followed by some secondary school in Cap Haitien. From an early age, she had an unbridled passion for "haute couture" so she decided to fulfill her life's calling and became a dressmaker.

Fortilie met the love of her life, Clovis Auguste, and tied the knot in 1945, they enjoyed 60 plus years of wedded bliss, and the couple was blessed with 9 children. Fortilie was known by her peers to be a very religious, caring, and honest woman. She had the characteristics of a true servant leader. She inspired her family and others with her compassion and her philanthropic endeavors. Fortilie was a devoted Catholic, a remarkable storyteller and possessed a strong will as the fierce protector of her loved ones. She believed in living life to the fullest. Her "joiede vivre" and her strong religious beliefs touched many lives. Her teachings, stories and life lessons will be carried on by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many generations to come.

Fortilie's strength in the face of adversity will be a shining example for all to accept that God has planned for us no matter how arduous it may seem. The composure and fortitude she displayed despite having to bury four of her children remains the ultimate testament to her unwavering commitment to the path God set forth for her. She was an authentic, family-oriented woman and one of the most beautiful souls a person could ever meet. On the 13th of December, 2023, God gracefully welcomed our beloved matriarch. Fortilie's life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. Her loss is irreplaceable and has stripped the family of a true fortune which could never be replaced.

Fortilie is survived by five children, nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
