Glen E.
Greggs
Mar 1, 1942 — Feb 9, 2024
Glen "Skip" E. Greggs Jr, age 81, a man who embraced life with passion, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, leaving behind a legacy that will forever inspire us. Skip was born to Dorothy R. Magale and Glen E. Greggs Sr. on March 1, 1942, in Nyack, NY. Skip's contagious passion, joy, and overall zest for life were unmistakable to all who knew him. He was a passionate mentor, loyal friend, wonderful father, and loving Pop Pop with an unwavering devotion to his family.
Skip had a deep connection with being out on the water and loved spending time with his family on their boat, Fish-Nip. For Skip, fishing was more than a hobby—it was a way for him to unwind, connect with loved ones, and appreciate the simple beauty of life. His eyes would light up as he recounted tales of his countless family fishing trips and annual lobster seasons. And then there was golf—a game that captured Skip's heart. Whether he was playing a leisurely round or having a friendly competton, Skip's love for golf was unshakeable. The camaraderie he found on the fairways brought him immense happiness.
A proud veteran, Skip served in the United States Air Force from 1962-1966. After being deployed to Taiwan he was transferred to Patrick Air Force Base in Cape Canaveral, FL where he met his beloved wife of 58 years, Sherry Greggs.
Skip is survived by wife Sherry, his son Philip and wife Nicole, his daughter Heather and husband Anthony, and his grandchildren Hunter, Charlotte, Samuel, Kaden and another on the way, Wyatt. His family was the pride and joy of his life. His selflessness, work ethic, humor, and loyalty that he instilled in them will continue to live on. His family stands as a living testament to the love and support he shared at home.
Following his military service, Skip embarked on a remarkable 50-year career in the swimming pool industry. A tireless advocate for the pool industry, Skip's expertise flourished during his three-decade tenure at Team Horner, complemented by significant contributions to Sheer Descent Waterfalls and Jandy Teledyne Laars. Renowned as an expert speaker and trainer, Skip's passion for educating and sharing knowledge on heat pumps and salt chlorine generators reached global audiences, leaving an enduring mark on swimming pool professionals worldwide.
For Skip, Team Horner was more than a workplace; it was a second family. A pioneer in the swimming pool heat pump industry, he worked determinedly both domestically and internationally, embodying a steadfast commitment to fostering relationships and imparting wisdom. His influence on Team Horner, acknowledged through accolades like the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014 and Hall of Fame induction in 2021, solidified his status as a pathfinder and trailblazer within the Team's history.
