Hector Ruben
Trejo
Oct 25, 1942 — Jan 24, 2025
Hector "Pichi" Trejo passed away on January 24, 2025 at the age of 82 in Tamarac, FL. Hector is survived by his daughters, Karina Harrison (Jim Harrison) and Vivian Garritano (Joseph Garritano); his grandchildren, Tyler Dietze, Riley Harrison, Savannah Gee and Claudia Gee; his brother Leandro Trejo (Olga Lamas); and his sister, Raquel Reyna. He is predeceased by his mother, Emilia Biegler, and his father, Leandro Trejo.
Pichi's first love growing up in Argentina, was futbol. He played well enough as a young man to spend some time playing for Club Atletico Los Andes, a club team that plays in the second division of the Argentine futbol league. From the cradle to the grave, he was a die-hard "incha" of Independiente, an Argentine professional league team. He never lost his love for the game and was overwhelmed with emotion when he got to see Argentina win the World Cup one last time in 2022.
Pichi was very much the life of any party in his prime. He was a man who loved laughter, music and a great time with friends. He could belt out a tango at a moment's notice, and he loved to dance, especially Chamame. His "pollo a la parilla" was second to none. He was the grill master at countless family gatherings and took great pride in preparing and serving his family a delicious meal. "Asado" was a weekend ritual; time well spent with the family that he so dearly loved. When he wasn't grilling, you might find him working on a car; often using what little time was left on weekends and evenings to help out friends with an oil change, or a brake repair.
While futbol may have been Pichi's first love, his greatest love was undoubtedly his wife, Maria (Mary). Pichi and Mary were married for 52 years when she passed away in January of 2022. They met in high school in Lomas de Zamora, Argentina. They married in 1969 and set out for the United States together that same year to pursue their American dream. Pichi was a skilled Tool and Die Maker and immediately found work at a factory in Orange, NJ where he spent the entirety of his working years. He was an extraordinary provider, loving husband, and ever-present father. He worked long hours but sat down at the dinner table every evening to share time with his wife and children at the end of a hard day. His work ethic was unparalleled; and he found his purpose in providing for the family that he so deeply loved.
Together, Pichi and Mary built a life and legacy that will extend far beyond their years on earth. He will be sorely missed, eternally loved, and never forgotten.
