Joseph Lamont
Ketterman
Sep 24, 1943 — May 15, 2025
Joseph Lamont Ketterman, 81, of Margate, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025.
Born on September 24, 1943, in Bedford, Pennsylvania to W. Anderson (Andy) and Nevia Ketterman (née O'Neal), Joseph lived a life marked by hard work, joy, and a deep love for his family. As a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he served his country with honor and integrity. After his military career, he dabbled in construction but found his passion as a dedicated house painter, taking pride in his craft and the homes he helped brighten in the South Florida community.
Joseph had an infectious laugh, and a great love for music, dancing, shooting a game of pool, sports, watching a great old Western or Kung Fu movie, and spending time with his friends and family. He was well known in his neighborhood for his joy of cooking, and how he loved to share his music and jokes out on his infamous neighborhood bench. Whether cheering on his favorite sports team or moving to the rhythm of a good tune, he brought energy and warmth to every room he entered. His laughter was contagious, his spirit unforgettable.
Joseph was preceded in death in 1968 by his infant son, Joseph Jr. (born prematurely), as well as his third born daughter, Justa, in 2016. He is survived by three of his daughters Joy Lyn, Jo Lana, and Janeal, as well as his six grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his two sisters, Ellie of Empire, MI and Hazel (husband, Ed) of Bedford, PA; and he was preceded in death by sisters Laverna and Jean (and husband, Joe), and his brother Ron (wife, Shirley, who still resides in Bedford, PA). Joseph's legacy lives on through his family and friends in the love they share and the memories they hold dear.
He will be remembered not only for his kindness and humor but also for the simple joys he embraced and the love he gave so deeply. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A service will be held to honor his life at Monarch Funeral Home on Friday, June 13, 2025. On Tuesday, June 17, 2025, he will be laid to rest at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida.
