Kim Sherree Kornegay Sheffield Lacourciere departed this earthly life to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 29, 2025. Kim was preceded in death by her son, Brandon Mychal Charles Sheffield and husband, Carlton Sheffield.

Kim was born in Manhattan, New York and grew up in Amityville Long Island, New York and Lauderhill, Florida. Kim was the oldest child of Chuck and Raye Kornegay. Kim attended Florida State University where she received a bachelor's degree in criminology and was a varsity cheerleader for four years. She went on to graduate with a master's degree in education and counseling from Florida Atlantic University. Kim spent her professional career at Margate Middle School for thirty-five years as a Guidance Counselor, History and Civics teacher. She had a beautiful smile, bubbly spirit, positive outlook and individual fashion style. Kim loved butterflies, purple, crafting, dancing, shopping, watching Hallmark movies, and all things FSU. She was a strong woman with the help of the Lord she weathered the season of the loss of her son, Brandon, and husband, Carlton. She continued her walk in life and met her husband, David. Kim and David were always together enjoying life and living in the moment. They listened to Motown music, attended renaissance festivals, and comedy shows. Kim found her happily ever after.

Her daughter, Monique, and grandbabies, Isaiah, Ariel and Leilani, were the light of her world, a ray of sunshine that brightened her day. Kim cherished every birthday, school event and being the biggest supporter/cheerleader for her babies. The joy Kim felt to make everything perfect for the ones she loved made her life full and complete.

Kim is survived by her parents, Chuck and Raye Kornegay; husband, David Lacourciere; daughter, Monique Sheffield; grandchildren, Isaiah, Ariel, and Leilani; sister, Stephanie Mix (Frank); brother, Charles Kornegay (Asha); mother-in-law, Rachel Lacourciere, brother-in-law, Eric (Sonja) and Brian (Robin); and a circle of family and friends.
