Laura Lanier Marcotte, 85, passed away on August 8, 2022. Born in Kinston, NC on June 19, 1937 to Leslie and Mildred Lanier. She is survived by her four children, Jess, Mark (Mary), Charlie (Lori) and Joyce (Ron); 10 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. Laura grew up with brothers, Tommy, Charlie, Pete, Craig and Celcil; and sisters, Patricia Whitaker, Brenda Lindsey, and Gail English.

Laura was a great cook, baker, and loved to sew. She enjoyed crocheting blankets for anyone who wanted one. She often challenged others to playing cards or running off to the casino at midnight. Her afternoons were spent watching soaps and cooking shows. Laura never missed a sports game or function for her grandchildren. She was kind, giving, and always saw the good in everyone. She will be missed dearly.

We thought of you today; but that is nothing new.

We thought about you yesterday; and the days before that, too.

We think of you in silence; we often speak your name.

Now all we have are memories; and your picture in a frame.

Your memory is our keepsake; with which we'll never part.

God has you in his keeping; we have you in our heart.
