On June 13, 2023, the clouds lifted and the angels ushered Louis "Tygaboy" "DanielBoone" Holmes into his heavenly home. Louis was born in Memphis, TN on February 24, 1985 to parents Cleveland Holmes and Deneise Smith.

A hefty 10-year-old with unnatural strength, speed, and a keen understanding for football, Louis' football career started with the Whitehaven Junior Sports Association Jets in 1995. In one of his first scrimmages there was a highly touted kid on the other team in the running back position that everyone spoke highly of. Legend has it that on the first play of the game, they handed the ball to the kid (who will remain nameless) who shook off a couple of tacklers but then was introduced to Louis "Tygaboy" Holmes; and that folks, was the end of the scrimmage and the beginning of something great.

Louis was a graduate of Dillard High School in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Spending his first two years at Scottsdale Community College before transferring to the University of Arizona for his final two campaigns, Louis totaled 265 tackles, 22.0 sacks, and 50.5 tackles for loss in four collegiate seasons. He combined for 192 tackles, 16.0 sacks and 40 tackles for loss in two seasons at Scottsdale Community College, garnering NJCAA All-American, All-Regional, All-Western States Football League honors and Rivals.com the number 1 overall JUCO.  Named Second-team All-Pac-10 during first season at Arizona as a junior, he recorded 36 tackles, 4 sacks, 5 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery. Louis played in 12 games with 10 starts for Arizona as a senior in 2007, tallying 37 tackles, 2 sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss. Louis later played professionally for the San Francisco 49ers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Sacramento Mountain Lions, Spokane Shock, and Los Angeles KISS.

After a career in football and ultimately developing a relationship with God, Holmes became a Mason and an example of the expression "carpe diem!" From trading stocks to encouraging others to invest in their credit, he flourished in a passionate profession as he assisted others in discovering financial freedom. His love of life did not come to an end with his death. Today he is surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Louis follows to heaven his grandmother, Ruth Smith; grandfather, Louis Johnson; uncle, Oscar Smith; and aunt, Brenda Guy.

He is survived by his loving family, Holly Finnesy, and their two children, Louis Daniel Finnesy-Holmes, Jr. and Scarlett Rene Finnesy. He also leaves to cherish his memory his devoted parents, Deneise Smith and Cleveland Holmes; five siblings, Daniela L. Holmes of Memphis, TN, Jessica C. Holmes of Melbourne, FL, KaRana S. Robinson (Darnell) of Melbourne, FL, and Johnny Houston of Memphis, TN; niece, Brittany Deneise Amora Robinson; nephew, Dametrius Kade Robinson; along with numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and countless friends.
