Obituary

Luce Andre Bruneau, who was affectionately known to her family and friends as Dede or Lucy, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021. Luce was born on October 18, 1947 in Miragoane, Haiti to the late Edrick Bruneau and Marie Occilia Pierre-Louis.  She was the second oldest of seven siblings.

She was married to Jean Claude Placide for 50 years. The two were childhood friends and their friendship blossomed into love. Two children were born in Brooklyn, NY from this union, Mary L. Placide Severe and Dr. Regine Placide Reaves. She was a devoted wife, mother, and the greatest grandmother to Angelina Victoria (whom she affectionately called Na) and Malena Jade (whom she called Jadey). Every moment she spent with her granddaughters was a life lesson. According to her oldest granddaughter, grandma's smile brightened a room. This sentiment is shared by all who knew Luce.

She was a devout Catholic and parishioner at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Although she moved from North Lauderdale to another municipality, she continued to attend Our Lady Queen of Heaven for sixteen years.

Luce Andre Bruneau was an amazing person who put the needs of others before her own. She had an innate quality for caring for others not only in her personal life, but her professional life as well. Luce was always giving and willing to help someone in need. She worked in the nursing field for forty years both in New York and Florida and took great care of the most vulnerable population.

She is survived by her husband, Jean Claude; daughter, Mary and husband, Ange Jipson (AJ) and children; daughter, Regine and husband, Samuel Reaves; sisters, Mary France Audouin and family, Enide Roy and family, Asma Heurtelou and family, Flore Bruneau and family; brothers, Yves Edrick Bruneau and family, Dr. Jean Rotchild Bruneau and family; and many others.

Jean 11:25

Que la terre te soit legere.
