Maria
Trejo
Oct 13, 1946 — Jan 30, 2022
Maria "Mary" Trejo passed away on January 30, 2022 at the age of 75 in her hometown of Margate, FL. Mary's indomitable spirit, stubborn and tenacious nature, and absolute love for life and family saw her through decades of medical complications she experienced as a result of a blood disorder. She was a shining example of resilience and stoicism; her ability to rise up on the worst of days was rivaled only by her ability to see her family and friends through theirs.
Mary is survived by her husband of 52 years, Hector Trejo, her daughters Karina Harrison (Jim Harrison) and Vivian Garritano (Joseph Garritano), her grandchildren Tyler Dietze, Riley Harrison, Savannah Gee and Claudia Gee; and her brother Horacio Rubianes (Laura Rubianes). She is predeceased by her mother Benedicta Diaz Rubianes, and her father Fernando Rubianes.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother; nothing meant more to her in this life than her family. She was a beloved sister, aunt, friend and nanny who deeply touched the lives of every person who had the privilege of knowing her. She went out of her way to make sure the people she loved knew just how special they were to her. She loved great food and a better cocktail, long chats over coffee with dear friends, entertaining guests and reading a good book. She was an extraordinary cook. She made gourmet pizza that was not only out of this world, but a physical manifestation of the affection she had for the people who had the privilege to share in it.
She was born in Spain and moved to Argentina at age 4 with her parents. She met her husband there in high school, and always thought of Argentina as "home". They married in 1969 and set out for the United States together that same year to pursue their American dream. Together they built a life and legacy that will extend far beyond their years on earth. She will be sorely missed, eternally loved, and never forgotten.
