Maurice Rolland Smith was born on January 24, 1991 at Grace Hospital in Detroit, MI to Tanisha Ray Smith and Mareece Parker. A short time after the birth of his little sister, Malissa, they were from then on lovingly raised by their mother and Charles Nelson Davis.

A Maurice welcomed two more baby sisters, Charnisha and Autumn, he found joy in playing with his three little sisters and teaching them everything he knew.  Several years went by, and two little brothers, Christian and Isaac, who Maurice loved with all his heart, completed the family. Maurice took his role as big brother seriously and taught his siblings everything he took interest in, including poetry, martial arts, skateboarding, bike riding, chess, video games and so much more.

Maurice was exceptional, a young prodigy. He had a natural talent for music and art, teaching himself to draw portraits and even learning to play a song on his keyboard by listening to it, and was a talented lyricist. Maurice's excellency carried on into high school where he found a love of football and was a top performing defensive lineman for the Loyola High School Bulldogs his freshman year. He went on to graduate as an honor roll student from Inkster High School.  His family often came to cheer him on at his games, but this father, Charles Davis, made sure he never missed one. He went on to achieve a building trades certificate, putting his training into practice while working with his uncle Tone.

Affectionately known as "Moe Weezy" and "Mookie," Maurice never met a stranger. He had the natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life, making everyone he met feel like a celebrity, and oftentimes, you left his presense being named after one.  His love, humor, and irresistible charm were like his laugh: loud.

Despite the heavy burden of living with an invisible disability, his love for God, family and life remained untouched.  His generosity knew no bounds, offering whatever he had no matter how much or how little, and always finding an opportunity to pray for anyone. He found genuine joy in simple pleasures like playing the lottery, having a cup of coffee, and having his favorite meal delivered, pizza.  His strength, kindness, and contentment with life's everyday blessings is a lesson he leaves behind for us all.

He is preceded in passing by his beloved grandparents; Bobette Calhoun and James Smith; along with other family members dear to him.

He leaves behind to honor his memory his loving parents, Tanisha and Charles Davis; siblings, Malissa, Charnisha, Autumn, Christian, Isaac, Bernice Jr., and Patience.  His "Nana," Harriet Davis; his niece, Ana; his nephew, Liam; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who all loved him dearly.
