Guestbook & Livestream instructions are located at the conclusion of the obituary.
Russell Church, an American hero and cherished gem, will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community. Known for his unwavering kindness and willingness to help others, Russell was a devoted father and friend who always sought to uplift those around him.
A proud Vietnam Veteran, Russell served two tours despite being injured and later participated in Desert Storm. He continued his service in the Army Reserves during the Global War on Terrorism, exemplifying his dedication to his country.
Russell's talents were vast and varied. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education and taught in both Chicago Public Schools and Broward County. His career also included roles at General Motors and International Harvester, and later as an All Lines Claims Adjuster. However, his most fulfilling work was with Primerica, where he helped individuals achieve financial freedom—a mission he held dear.
A devout Seventh-Day Adventist, Russell also served in various churches of different denominations throughout his life, demonstrating his inclusive and compassionate spirit.
Russell's interests and skills knew no bounds. He was a talented musician, playing the trumpet, acoustic guitar, and bass, and a creative crafter, producing beautiful ceramic pieces and flower arrangements. He also crocheted, practiced photography, flew planes, drove trucks, operated drones, and kept up with emerging technologies. Russell pursued numerous certifications, including in scuba diving, and was a lifelong learner who continually inspired others to improve themselves.
Russell is survived by his two children, Monica and Jonathan; his two grandchildren, Michael and Jabari; and countless friends who will cherish his memory and continue his legacy.
