Simon
Gerun
Apr 1, 1950 — Jan 14, 2022
Simon Gerun, 71, of Wellington, FL passed away peacefully on January 14, 2022. Born in Innsbruck, Austria on April 1, 1950, he moved to New York with his parents and older siblings when he was still very young. Simon is survived by his older sister, Elizabeth; younger brother, John; wife, Elizabeth; and two children, Lenore and Phillip. Simon was preceded in death by his older brother, Michael; and parents, Semen and Maria.
Simon lived in New York until the 1980s when he moved to Florida to get away from the cold weather. He met his wife, Elizabeth, when he worked at Avatar in Coral Gables, Florida. After only a year of dating, they got engaged and were married on August 24, 1985 at Holy Redeemer Church in Kissimmee, FL. They moved to Coconut Creek, FL after the birth of their second child where they lived for 16 years. They then moved to Wellington, FL and have resided there since 2004. Simon worked at several different companies over the years as a Chief Financial Officer or Controller. He also held a real estate license in Florida. Most recently, Simon worked for Big Dog Ranch Rescue in Loxahatchee Groves, FL where his love for dogs grew.
Simon loved a good cigar and glass of whiskey or red wine. He enjoyed cooking, especially with the assistance of his kids. Never one to measure, he made cooking fun and delicious! If he wasn't out with his wife and daughter, he could usually be found watching old tv shows with his son. A lover of the classics: Hogan's Heroes, Prisoner, Dragnet, Adam-12, and more. He also enjoyed watching a variety of sports: golf, the Yankees, hockey and both college and pro football (Go Canes!). So easygoing and fun-loving, a sarcastic type of humor, and always a blast to be around. He will be loved and missed by all those who knew him, but the memories and stories will live on through his family and friends forever. We would love to hear any stories or memories that you hold close to your heart or that just make you smile when you hear Simon's name.
