Violetta
Claude
Dec 19, 1946 — Aug 2, 2021
Violetta affectionately known as "Nenen", a term used in the Haitian culture by identifying a godmother, was born in 1946 in Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti. Violetta's parents were Rene and Gabrielle Prochet. Her parents emigrated to the United States in 1963 when Violetta was a young girl at the age of 17. Violetta eventually landed in Brooklyn, New York in 1969.
Violetta worked many jobs to contribute to her family. The most impactful was when she spent 31 years with ABN AMRO Bank and European American Bank which was eventually merged into Citibank. While English was a second language and without a formal education, Violetta was able to buy a 3 story 2 family house in Brooklyn, NY. Violetta recognized the hardships that many Haitian families faced and opened her home to families that were seeking a new life in the United States of America until they were able to make it on their own. Violetta herself became an American citizen on November 4th, 1974.
Violetta didn't have much free time as she was a single mom raising 2 sons, but when she did find time, she loved to read and cross-stitch. She often framed her creations and gave them as gifts. Violetta loved to entertain. She loved to have her family over for every holiday that was available.
After a great career in banking and taking advantage of her investments and savings, Violetta was able to escape the harsh winters of the Northeast and take early retirement to Florida in 2004.
Violetta is survived by her husband; Eddy Claude, her 2 sons; Pierre Anthony (Tony) Dary, and Carlisl Prochet, her 5 grandchildren; Daniella Louise Rickman, Olivia Yasmin Dary, Carlisl Prochet II, Ryan Mathieu Prochet, and Camryn Rose Prochet and her 3 siblings; Rene Prochet, Danielle Rabel and Nelly Francois.
Violetta is sure to meet up with her sister Gosette and niece Kettely who passed away in 2019.
