Obituary

William "Bill" Edward Allan, Jr., a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on November 2, 2024, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the age of 81. Born on November 18, 1942, in San Francisco, California, Bill was the son of William Edward Allan, Sr. and Veronica Allan. He graduated from Hicksville High School in 1960, and in 1962 enlisted in the United States Air Force, beginning a distinguished military career that spanned nearly three decades.

During his first year of service, Bill met Marcia Kimball, the love of his life. They married and shared 61 years together, raising two children, Kimberly and Christopher. Bill's career in the Air Force took him and his family to postings around the world, including Hawaii, Thailand, Okinawa, Texas, England, New York, Colorado, and multiple deployments, including to the Vietnam War. Through diligence, dedication, and attention to detail, he rose to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, the highest enlisted rank in the Air Force, and also earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland.

After his retirement from the Air Force following 27 years and earning multiple awards—including Two, Three, and Seven Oak Leaf Clusters—Bill worked as Comptroller for the AARP in Aurora, Colorado, and as a civilian employee at the United States Air Force Accounting and Finance Center in Denver, finally retiring for good after 42 years of total service to our country.  Known for his generosity and loyalty, Bill made friends everywhere he went, including his cherished group of friends from childhood, "The Hicksville 8."

Bill loved traveling, especially the cruises he and Marcia took together in their later years. He was an avid reader, enjoying golf, watching sports of all kinds, and was known for his grilling skills (always charcoal, never gas).

Bill is survived by his wife, Marcia Allan (Kimball); daughter, Kimberly Kobes (Allan); son, Christopher Allan; sister, Veronica Healy; brother, Donald Allan; and grandson, Jin Kobes.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends who remember him for his service, integrity, and the many lives he touched. A memorial service to celebrate Bill's life will be held at Monarch Funeral Home (2950 N State Rd 7, Margate, FL) on November 16 at 2:30pm.
