Yvonne Wellington was born on September 22, 1932, St. Andrews Village, Couva, Trinidad, to Beatrice (Myra) Rawlins-Mayers, and Zachariah (Adolphus) Mayers. She was preceded in death by her husband Ivan Sr., and her daughter Esther Bernadette. Yvonne had six siblings that preceded her in death: Gaston Phillip, Philbert (Boisin) Mayers, Ivan Mayers, Udees Phillip, Eunice Mayers, and Elizabeth Mayers.

Yvonne met and married Ivan Wellington on December 28, 1952. This union brought forth four children: Esther Bernadette (deceased), Ian Baden, Gerry Russell (Djuana), and Ivan Jr. (Wendy).

Yvonne moved with her family to St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Island in 1970, where she was employed by Grand Union Supermarket working in the deli department. Yvonne was in training to become the deli manager before moving to Chicago in November 1971.

Yvonne also loved sewing and was employed as a seamstress in Chicago. Yvonne had a hidden talent for singing and sung at wedding receptions in Trinidad as well as Canada. In 1991, Yvonne retired to south Florida where she created a new path as a personal caregiver. She was loved by those she cared for.

Upon retiring for a second time, Yvonne poured herself into her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to cook and bake and there was always something in the pot. Yvonne enjoyed afternoon tea gatherings with her tea party friends.

Affectionately remembering Yvonne will be three sons, Ian Baden Wellington, Gerry Russell Wellington (Djuana), Ivan Wellington, Jr. (Wendy); grandchildren Nancy Mapson, Dion Villatoro, Nattasha Wellington, Rashir Wellington (Sharon), Annasthia McGillvery (Jason), David Bartholomew, Ashanta Findeson (Donald), Gabrielle Wellington, Chanel Bryant (Charlie), Ivan Aska and 19 great grandchildren. Yvonne was the sister of Wilma Mayers, the aunt of Patricia Johnson, Marilyn Awong, Deborah LaRode, Curt Phillip, Ken (Burt) Phillip, Anthony Meyers, Merle Sambury, Gwendolyn Brown, Margaret Worrell, AnnMarie Williams, Kelvin Mayers, Norman Mayers, and many more; cousin of Gemma Selvon, Joyce Williams, and Alma Paris; relative of Rawlins, Paris, Crichlow, and Arjoon families; special friend of Lorna, Jean, Irma and Carol; longtime friend of Alvarine Harrison (Illinois), Roma, Ken, Samuel, Carl, Carol, Gwendolyn (Canada) and others.
