What Does Family-Owned vs. Corporate Mean to You?

Knowing the difference between family-owned and corporately-owned funeral homes will mean the world to you and your family when honoring your loved one.

Monarch Funeral Home & Cremation Services is the only Family-Owned & Operated funeral home and cremation provider in Margate, Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, Parkland and West Boca Raton.

A major distinction between a family-owned and operated funeral home (such as Monarch Funeral Home) and other corporately-owned funeral homes is simply this…it is nearly impossible for corporately-owned funeral homes to provide the same level of quality and personalized services to families that we can and WILL provide to you and your family, friends and our communities. It is the ‘shareholder reporting’ and profitability practices and policies that prevents corporately-owned them from doing so.

That’s not to say that a corporately-owned funeral home cannot possibly deliver a compassionate service in the manner of a family-owned funeral home…but there are other factors that a family needs to be aware of when speaking with a corporately owned location.

Since there are ‘home office policy requirements’ that must be satisfied by corporately-owned funeral homes, families often find themselves rushed into decisions or pressured into paying more than they are prepared for or able to. Therefore, families typically pay two-to-three thousand dollars more than they would with a family owned & operated funeral home such as Monarch.

ANSWERING SERVICE

Answering service will be in effect after ‘normal business hours,’ Monday thru Friday (9 A.M. until 5 P. M.) and weekends. The ‘on-call’ funeral director (covering several funeral homes) will need to be paged in order for you to receive help.

THE TIME CARD

The directors and embalmers will also be restricted to a 40-hour work week; anytime there is a chance of overtime being earned, they will be instructed to take days off while other staff personnel are called in to work services.

QUOTAS

The funeral director meeting with the family will have a certain quota to meet when it comes to the number of funeral ‘packages’ they sell; those containing certain caskets, stationery sets and other items which they receive bonus pay for.

OUR FAMILIES ARE NOT QUOTAS

By the nature of who we are and how our home is run, a corporate system such as ‘quotas’ does not and cannot exist. We answer only to ourselves and provide to the family only what is needed and desired—no more, no less.

DIVIDENDS AND FINANCIAL REPORTING

The shareholder reporting and profitability practices/policies of corporately run funeral homes dictates that budgets be set and adhered to. A typical head-office call will usually begin with…“what are your numbers this month?”

NO DIVIDENDS OR FINANCIAL REPORTING

We support our local community by donating 5% of our net profits to local charities and offer a savings of 5% to local families on their funeral statements. Because…“Our Home is Your Home”
